Holidays and DUI’s

It’s party time! Thanksgiving has passed, it was a blast.  Now Christmas is right on your heels and before you know it you’ll be opening presents, sitting around fires, laughing and catching up with great friends and family.

Of course, there will be all kinds of fun to be had and drinks to go around.  Champagne to make toasts with, beer and wine to relax with your friends and fancy cocktails to soak in the night life.  Whatever preference, it is yours, and you should absolutely enjoy yourself during all the festivities.  But before you do you should take a few steps to make sure, not only you, but others around you are safe and happy and living life to its fullest.

Choose a designated driver. If that doesn’t work, it’s ok!  Your friends deserve to have a great time as well.  That’s the beauty of technology and innovation.  We have so many resources right at our fingertips – Lyft, Uber these options are at your disposal (especially Lyft – checkout the link below for discounts).  As long as you have a phone, there is no excuse to be out there driving after you have had a few.

“But it costs too much”.  Have you seen how much it costs if you are pulled over and charged with a DUI?  It’s not a pretty number.  The conviction alone can add up to almost $2,500 in fines; and that’s not the end of it – alcohol screenings, counseling, regaining your driver’s license, installing an interlock device – the list goes on.

So, the real question is, would you rather pay a $100 Lyft fee, or a continuous buildup of DUI fees that could ultimately result in a having an ugly blemish on your record?

Stats don’t lie.  The numbers are crazy high – 41-58% of highway deaths occurring during the holidays are alcohol related, 700,000 people are injured or killed in drunk driving accidents each day during the holidays, and 16% of adults say that they drink more than usual during the holidays.  CRAZY!

But here’s the beautiful truth – there is a solution to all these horrible statistics.  Make the smart choice.  Designate a sober driver, order a Lyft, if you’re out share a Lyft, or if you’re at a friends or families house stay the night.  All of these options can help prevent further accidents, deaths and tragedies that revolve around drinking and driving.

But, again, the holidays are meant to be fun, relaxing, and all around enjoyable.  You deserve it!  And mistakes happen – we are all only human.  It’s OK.  That’s where DUI Process Experts (DPX) come in.  We are here to help and to make this whole DUI mess of a situation easier for you.
